Today was my birthday. Although I am miserably sick with a headcold, it was a lovely day. Still this congested head of mind is making it much too hard to concentrate on writing, and I miss my older son, who is away and seemed rather sad when he called. Other than that, a rather nice day altogether.

Bon Anniversaire, Arthur Rimbaud: "Le Prince et le Genie s'aneantirent probablement dans la sante essentielle. Comment n'auraient-ils pas pu en mourir?" "The Prince and the Genie annihilated each other probably in essential health. How could they have helped dying of it." and...

Today was another gorgeous Indian summer day, but the drive up and across the Mississippi River to O’Fallon and Lake Saint Louis really did not treat us to any more fall coloration than last Sunday’s drive. Leaves are staying green longer than they used to when I can remember their being in all...

I feel that at any stage of my literary career it could have been said that the last book contained all the others. I have trusted to my...

I know I said I wasn't going to blog this weekend, however a big event is happening today. It's pretty big, gentle readers. Madonna is fifty. Yes, nifty fifty! What I want to know is, how did that happen?             Madonna has been around for so long-half my life. Well longer than...

Today is Harper Lee's birthday. I think today should be a holiday. We should all go to the library and read our favorite sections from To Kill A Mockingbird aloud. We should see the movie again and wish Atticus Fitch was around these days. But alas, it isn't a holiday. So let's watch one of the...

Spreading the Love by Kate-- I frequently feel gratitude, but don’t express it often or fully enough. Surely my husband David already knows I love him, right? Complaining is easy and sometimes feels more urgent, but ultimately there is nothing more important than saying "I love you," and...
