I can't really complain about this (though I'll sneak in an aura of disapproval). Shakespeare's plays are going to be re-written as novels. It rather (to me) defeats the point, but then I have written a novel containing Kafka's lost diary entries. So, naughty me. And, if all the truth be...

OK, I went and saw Anonymous and, although the plot is a pile o' poo, I enjoyed it immensely. Now here comes an adaptation of "Snow White", and I gotta say I do believe I will be in attendance when it is released. Oh, wondrous adaptations! Or I am an easy movie slut?...

Well . . . yes. It can - and has - been done. And will again. But it is often not done, and for many more reasons than just not adhering to the novel. Ya pays your money and eats your popcorn and takes your chances.   * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *     Is the Screen Always Worse Than...

Here we go --again-- with the primary reason "moviemakers" should be drowned the moment they apply for admission to film school: one of the better books of the past decade reportedly has been... uh... "improved" for the silver screen. So if you haven't already read Max Brooks' World War Z --...
