creator and host for three spoken word series in San Francisco between 1994 and 2004 --  the award-winning Celebration of the Word (ten years), Poetry at the Cosmo, and Word Dancing. The Word Dancing series was re-created in a new venue in 2007.

2008 - was a judge in the annual poetry contest sponsored by the Arizona State Poetry Society.

moderator for panel discussion on Banned and Recovered -- Artists Respond to Censorship, held at African American Museum and Library in Oakland CA in December 2008. Hanna Regev was the curator for the art exhibit in three venues -- Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland.
