Biography

My first poem was published in Paper Pudding in 1972, a Sonoma County literary magazine.  Moved to San Francisco in 1973, was one of the original members of the Bay Area Poets Coalition in 1974 and helped create their Summer Solstice & Autumn Equinox Poetry Festivals where over 200 poets read their work. Established Taurean Horn Press in 1974 with Honeydew: an anthology;  I was the editor and one of eight contributing poets.  To date, Taurean Horn Press has published 14 books, including my In Concern:  for Angels (1984).  The most recent book Taurean Horn Press put out is q. r. hand jr.'s whose really blues, published in December, 2007.  As publisher of Taurean Horn Press, also edited and published 13 issues of OR magazine that attempted to cover the Bay Area open reading scene in 1975-6; published two issues, the Caged Collective, From Folsom Prison with Love, from the Folsom Prison Creative Writers Workshop (1975); and published 8 issues of Mini-Taur series, a poetry magazine (poemphlet) featuring a single author (1976).  My poemphlet: If You Should Die A Fool, You Will Be No Less Wiser For It.  I have read my work extensively around the Bay Area (and throughout California) and have been featured since the mid-seventies.  My work has appeared in lots of small magazines over the years, mostly recently (last couple of years) in North Coast Literary Review 4, metaformia.org, listenandbeheard.net, Big Scream 46 and About.com (Spring Poems.)  In 2007, I co-edited with Geri Digiorno, founder of the Walk, Petaluma Poetry Walk, 10-Year Anthology, 1996-2005.  Beatitude Press (in Berkeley) published Suburbs of my Childhood, a collection of work from 1972 to 1995, earlier this year (2009).
