where the writers are

Where does the time go?

Here it is November first and I'm having a raging internal argument about NaNoWriMo 2008. I had just about decided that there wasn't a novel in me, and then I discovered Red Room 10 days ago. Thanks a lot, Red Room.

Is anyone else having this internal dialogue?

-I just became a member. Can't I get a bye this year?

-Where are the ideas? I can't find any ideas. Has anyone seen my ideas?

-Isn't there a book or a program out there that would do it for me. Sort of like PowerPoint, only for novels?

Forget about getting something published, I'm just worried about getting something written. But having survived quite the health scare a year ago, I'm painfully aware of how fleeting time can be. I know now that you've got to grab life by the love handles and enjoy the ride, however long it lasts. And the "me" of a year ago would be scoffing at the "me" here today. Wasting time. Going back for 'just one more' edit.

And now I've spent 15 minutes writing a blog entry when I could have been writing a novel.

That's the theory, anyway.
